Moving Business away from CodeCanyon

Hi Guys,

We've moved our business to our website. It's a hard decision because setup things like Payment system, support and business campaign is touch. With CodeCanyon, we don't have to care much about finding customers, but it's on our part, the biggest reason is, we want to bring better experience for people who want to try our product, so we can get more customers, to be transparent, we'll let you know about them:

Simple, Faster Purchasing

  • When we sell item on CodeCanyon, customers who visit or website have to click on purchase button to redirect to CC, then if they don't have an account, they have to register one, setup billing info, purchase with extra +$2 for deposit if their account has no balance yet. We don't even know how many people quit after these steps because we have no tracking for it.

  • Now we use Gumroad to manage payment, you only need to fill your email address, password and select payment type you want, we do support Credit Cards and Paypal.

Product Updating

On CodeCanyon, if we want to push an update, we'll have to wait for their approval. This have both upsides and downsides, the good is they've tried to protect their customers, the bad is, when we have an urgent fix, we still have to wait.

Refunding

On CodeCanyon, when you want to get refund, you'll need to create a ticket and wait for approval from us and CC staff. Now you can go to your Gumroad account and just hit cancel.

Author & Buyer Protection

CC offer a good buyer protection via their rating system and author badges so you can find a good author. We want to do it better, we still offer a public, trusted rating via WordPress.org, our payment lets you cancel within 30 days without any reason, so you take the highest confident when buying from us.

One thing we really don't like about CC is author protection, when we run the the first product, someone (who doesn't buy our product) leaves an offense comment and reported us about license and said that we've stolen the code from a JS github example repo because he saw we both use the same sample image from Facebook. Envato staff immediately shutdown our item without looking into it. After 3 days with dozen emails, our product has back, but the horrible thing is, we've lost change to become weekly top product, when people searching our product, they'll see 404 page with our opponent products recommendation.

Our Own Marketing Campaign, Future Affiliate

On CodeCanyon, we can't setup the price, coupon code for a set of user, now we can. Their affiliate system doesn't good because they only pay for the first purchase. We've decided to run our own and create affiliate campaign on Q3. Contact us if you interested it.

What Happen With Your Envato Account?

If you've purchased our item via Envato, you'll still get update and support until the license expired, please go to Dashboard and verify as you're buyer via your license key within 30 days because we'll totally remove our product on CodeCanyon.

Best regards,

Gary
